The Paddock Solar Power Plant is based on a modular
design that is easy to upgrade.
The Paddock Solar Panels are designed so that individual solar strips can
be removed and replaced easily, should one get damaged.
The individual panels fit into the Paddock Aerodynamic Solar Panel Frame.
This flexible steel frame is weather resistant and ruggedized with a
polyurethane coating for durability. The frame can be flexed to perfectly
fit the curve of most aerodynamic roofs on today's truck cabs. The frame
itself has a thin profile and will not adversely affect the aerodynamics or
the fuel efficiency of the truck.
The Paddock Solar Maximizer is the heart of the system. The Solar
Maximizer is a smart energy management system that controls the flow of
energy between solar panels, truck batteries and auxiliary batteries for
maximum available power and charging efficiency. You'll never need to worry
about re-starting your truck after a long night of high-amperage accessories
usage – the Paddock Solar Maximizer will not allow the starting battery to
drop below a set voltage limit and will automatically parallel the start and
auxiliary batteries for maximum cranking power.
The Solar Maximizer itself is modular – you can start simple and upgrade
the functionality and capacity of the Maximizer and it's related system
components over time. A full Paddock Solar Power Plant can ultimately
replace your diesel-fired generator – even for powering heating and cooling
units in when you need them most!
The entire Solar Maximizer is contained in a weather resistant box about
the size of a large shoebox. The box is mounted on rubber "shocks" and can
be installed out of the way – on the back of the truck cab or on any of the
interior cab walls under the bunk.

needed at night while watching TV and running the AC to stay comfortable –

CORE PRINCIPLE
Keeping the start battery properly maintained regardless
of cab accessory power drain is always the first priority for the Paddock
Solar Maximizer System.
STANDARD SETTING TECHNOLOGIES
Smart Charging
- The Paddock Solar Maximizer manages all generated electrical current
for auxilliary use in three stages:
- 1. Bulk – for deep discharge
- 2. Absorption – for medium discharge
- 3. Float – for maintaining a "top-off" charge
Truck Engine Running
While the truck is running, the truck alternator recharges the primary
truck batteries. Once the primary batteries are fully re-charged, an
intuitive voltage sensitive relay switch in the Maximizer box is activated
to recharge the auxiliary batteries.
The Paddock Solar Maximizer system recharges both banks of batteries
fully while never allowing the primary batteries to fall into a state of
deep discharge. This gentle re-charging technique protects the life
expectancy of your primary starting batteries and lets the deep-cycle
dry-cell auxiliary battery technology handle any deep discharge.
Truck Engine Off / Daylight, No Accessories in Use
When the truck engine is off during daylight hours, energy from the solar
panels continue to feed a "Smart" controlled charge to the auxiliary
batteries as needed.
By activating an on/off switch in the cab, the Maximizer intelligently
transfers a "Smart" charge (up to 7.5 amps) per hour from the primary
batteries to the auxiliary batteries to augment any accessory use. Combined
with just one solar panel, this technique gives you up to a constant 11.5
amps per hour in addition to your stored auxiliary battery power.
No more running inverters or accessories directly from the primary
truck batteries!
Truck Engine Off / Night, Accessories in Use
At night, when the truck engine is off, the auxiliary batteries power the
cab accessories and appliances.
Using "Smart" technology, a limited amount of of the primary truck
battery power is used to augment the auxiliary batteries. (The top 10% or
until a customer directed pre-set cut-off voltage is reached.)
This technique adds several hours of run time at night, even for high
amperage draw accessories, such as DC-powered air conditioners, computer
printers, microwaves, etc. without deep discharging the primary batteries.
After coming in off the road and shutting the motor down, your primary
truck batteries and auxiliary batteries are efficiently charged at or near
"Float" level.
When available, you can connect a shore power 3-stage charger to the
auxiliary batteries and plug it into any standard 120v AC outlet for running
accessories while maintaining a full charge for your next off-grid use.
This feature provides unprecedented flexibility when spending the night
where plug-in power is available--without giving up the sophisticated power
control and battery management capabilities of the Paddock Solar Maximizer. |

PADDOCK SOLAR MODULES

Paddock Solar Panels come in two power versions: 6-volt and 12-volt.
The 6-volt panel requires two (2) 6-volt auxiliary batteries hooked up in
series to make a 12-volt circuit.
Paddock Solar Panels also come in five (5) color versions: red, white,
blue, yellow and gray.

The Paddock Aerodynamic Solar Panel Frame holds eight (8) individual
solar strips. It has a thin profile and can be curved to perfectly fit the
curve of the aerodynamic roof of your truck cab. The Frame is coated with a
polyurethane finish for durability. You can start with a single frame fitted
with eight solar cells and add additional frames and cells over time to
upgrade your power capacity as needed.

The Maximizer can use any number of 12-volt auxiliary batteries hooked in
parallel or at least two (2) 6-volt auxiliary batteries hooked in series. If
using 12-volt batteries, panel options include either 4 or 5 cell solar
strip panel. If using (2) 6-volt batteries, only the 5 cell strip panel can

EPA Smartway Program
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has created the SmartWay Affiliate
Program and Transport Partnership.
SMARTWAY AFFILIATE PROGRAM
The Affiliate Program is an innovative initiative that supports freight
shippers, carriers and logistics companies in setting and achieving goals
that increase fuel efficiency and reduce emission of greenhouse gasses and
air pollutants.
SMARTWAY TRANSPORT PROGRAM
SmartWay Transport is a voluntary partnership between various freight
industry sectors and EPA that establishes incentives for fuel efficiency
improvements and greenhouse gas emissions reductions. By 2012, this
initiative aims to reduce between 33 - 66 million metric tons of carbon
dioxide (CO2) emissions and up to 200,000 tons of nitrogen oxide (NOx)
emissions per year. At the same time, the initiative will result in fuel
savings of up to 150 million barrels of oil annually. There are three
primary components of the program: creating partnerships, reducing all
unnecessary engine idling, and increasing the efficiency and use of rail and
intermodal operations.
SMARTWAY AFFORADABLE LOAN PROGRAM
The EPA SmartWay Transport Partnership offers afforadable loans to help you
purchase fuel-saving technologies and reduce your costs. The EPA offers
flexible terms and no collateral is required.
EPA welcomes any company or organization that will improve the environmental
performance of their freight operations. Key Partners are companies that
ship products and the truck companies that deliver these products. Partners
commit to measure and improve the efficiency of their freight operations,
using EPA-developed tools that quantify the benefits of a number of
fuel-saving strategies.
SMARTWAY PROMOTES SAVING FUEL
Another component of the SmartWay Transport Partnership is to eliminate
unnecessary truck idling by developing a nationwide network of
idle-reduction options along major transportation corridors - truck stops,
travel centers, distribution hubs, borders, ports, and even along the side
of the road.
