Hi, my name is
Terry Wolff and my wife is Linda. We have been involved
with solar for many years. In 2003 our friend and owner of
another local solar company, suggested that we go into the
solar business since he had moved to California and felt
that there needed to be someone in the Taos area to handle
the solar needs of the area. After some consideration
Linda and I agreed that it would be something we would enjoy
doing since we have been supporters of solar for decades.
At the present time we are still registered as Taos Green
Solar. Since than, Mark thinks he may have need for
the name, so we are waiting to see what Mark wants to do.
So with that in mind, we are moving foreword with a name
change to Solar Taos, LLC. We are
relocating all our information pages to either this site or
another but we will keep you posted.
Our business is
located in Taos County, west of the Rio Grande River
Gorge. We are approximately 15 miles due south of
where Taos Green Solar was originally located. If you
are familiar with Taos, than you are aware of our majestic
views and open spaces. We are located on a plateau or
mesa which sits 72 hundred feet above sea level where our
mountains start and raise up to the heavens. To our
east, we have a spectacular view of the Sangre de Christo
mountains. The views are breath taking and can be
overwhelming
at times and never ceases to be an inspiring part of our
lives. In order to live where we do, being off the
grid is a given and solar and wind is a way of life.
At
Solar Taos, LLC we are working hard to offer you
the best possible OUR PRICEs we can and will continue to do so
whenever possible.
As mentioned
earlier, Solar Taos, LLC is our eCommerce site, and may
become our information site as well.

This is a Straw Bale House
which my wife Linda
and I designed and built. |
Before having the
solar business, I was a solar user. I started
using solar in the early 70's on my portable art studio/van.
In 1982 when living in southern California, I purchased a
bus and converted to a nautical motor home and wood carving
studio. I have been living off the grid ever since.
In 1996 my wife
to be, Linda joined me in the motor home and we have
lived in it until 2001 when we moved into our pueblo styled
straw bale home which we designed and built.
As I mentioned,
for us being off the grid is a way of life, a commitment to
treading as lightly on this earth which we owe so much to.

This is my solar and wind
powered straw bale woodcarving studio. To the right of the
rainbow are the solar panels and wind generator
which keep our homestead up and running. The small
building to the right of the panels is our electric shed. That
little window at the left of my studio is where our
office is located. |
Linda works in
Taos at a really neat kitchen shop called Monet's
Kitchen and does some of the office work around here. I
still maintain my
woodcarving business as well.
I have been
working with AC and low voltage DC electric systems on
boats, motor homes, and homes since the mid 70's. I am
certified by Siemens Company for low voltage systems, Dish
Network, and Starband Satellite Company to do installations.
Working with us
on local installations are Aaron and Linda Chigbrow,
contractors from Hawaii. Since their arrival a few
years ago, they have built a number of homes, and have also
done some solar installations and welding for some of our
clients.

About Our Homestead
We have the House, Woodcarving
Studio, The Motor Coach,
Electric Generating Shed, and
Generator Shed.
All our electric is manufactured
on our property. We collect our
water from the roofs of
our buildings.
All our waste water is sent
to a gray water cistern
where it is used
to water the gardens
and fruit trees.
Our human waste is
also recycled along with table
scraps and plant clippings.
The perimeter wall around
the house is made from the
clay and sage we cleared off the property and building
waste and is covered with adobe mud.
